Raatid and Magic films was in Waterhouse a couple of days ago for the shooting of “Mouth talk” Alkaline’s new music video for Blaqk Sheep music. The video will be released May 9th 2014.
Here is as planned the musical film that accompanies the track “Return Forward”. A return to Africa yes, but Jamaica is still a incredible country ! Enjoy !
This is the latest Raatid and Magic films production, WARPATH by Stitchie the legendary deejay from the 90’s (Lieutenant Stitchie). Manudigital produced and played this track for Flash Hit Records.
This music video was shot between Mandeville and Kingston. We choose to edit mostly with “cut” to fit the dynamism of the song. Enjoy and share !
During my works with Raatid and Magic films I encountered the Spanish reggae band Rampalion. When they sent me their album I was instantly seduced. Rampalion reminded me the great reggae vocal bands like Steel Pulse. My favorite song was and still is “Oppression” a must listen on their Bandcamp. We worked together on the song “Caribbean Nights”, a very beautiful journey across Jamaica.
Enjoy the film and later for a lot more of wonderful projects.
A few weeks ago, with Raatid and Magic films we shot Ken Boothe “New World Order” music video. Sean, our assistant filmed the making-of, here are the highlights of this beautiful day.
Ken Boothe “New World Order”:
Here is my latest project with my production company Raatid and Magic films, the music video of the legendary reggae singer Ken Boothe. On the dark theme of the few people who controls the world for decades. Filled with signs and messages to discover. Hint: at the end “Game” appears to make “Endgame”. Do a search on google for “Endgame” … Well enough talking, I let you watch “New World Order”, offer yourself the luxury of full screen!
I remade the riddim and re-edit it on the video shot years ago with my friend Thomas Michel. Tiger records RRRRR ! Enjoy !
About a year and a half ago, Diana Rutherford and I went to Pavillion gallery in Half way tree (a commercial center in Kingston) where we met Sizzla. After hailing him, he said : “Diana, we need to do a song together ! Sherkhan you find the riddim and unnu come check me”. So we did it ! A few days after, we went to his house in Liguanea, to record the song “A new day“. The riddim was very simple and not produced yet ! But in Jamaica sometimes things have to go fast. The day after, the song not even mixed was on Sizzla’s compilations and the whole ghetto of August town got “A new day” rough version ! Every taxis, every sound-systems were spinning that song ! So I speed up the process cause I knew this song had a lot more potential, on my side I called Loxsley a friend of mine (an excellent pianist who played the riddim “Rub a dub” and the famous riff on Sizzla’s tune “Gimme a try”) to add some instruments on it.
A few weeks later a good good friend of mine Yann came to Jamaica to visit me. He carried his little camcorder for his holidays. I got a great idea to use his camcorder to tape a music video for “A new day” ! So we did ! We went to Judgement yard. Sizzla was cutting some weed on the cutting board with an enormous “Opinel”. I told Sizzla that Opinel was a french brand, he said: “it’s because I know you guys are French that I show off with it !”. After a huge spliff session, we started to shoot the video.
Prepare for the future !
